Dr Avedis Ekmejian is a general and interventional (procedural) cardiologist, who prides himself on evidence-based and compassionate care for his patients. He is confident managing all aspects of cardiology, with particular expertise in coronary artery disease and chest pain assessment. While he is trained in more invasive techniques to treat severe cardiac disease, Dr Ekmejian is also an advocate for preventative care. His post-graduate training has been across multiple tertiary hospitals in NSW, including sub-specialist training in interventional cardiology at Royal North Shore Hospital over a 2-year period.
In addition to his medical degree, he has obtained a Masters of Science from the University of Edinburgh, and is currently completing a PhD through the University of Sydney under the supervision of Professor Ravinay Bhindi and Dr Michael Ward. This enables him to continue to improve the clinical care he provides his patients. He has multiple peer-reviewed publications in the field of interventional cardiology, and regularly reviews for other high impact cardiology journals. He was a finalist in the ANZET Early Career Research Prize, Australia’s major conference for Interventional Cardiology. He is an advocate for ethical research, maintaining a position in the ethics committee at NSLHD. He furthermore has extensive experience in teaching, through lecturing roles at the University of Sydney, training cardiology trainees in procedural and clinical skills at Royal North Shore Hospital, and is a co-director of the HEART course.
In addition to his clinic service at Oracle Healthcare, Dr Ekmejian has admitting and procedural rights at Royal North Shore Hospital (public) and North Shore Private Hospital (private).
